Hot Air Balloon Festival in Munnar

Hot Air Ballooning in the form of ‘Tethered Joy Rides’ will be held between April 21st and May 20th at The High Altitude Sports Centre and the Tata Tea ground. Munnar is witnessing such a grand hot air balloon festival for the very first time.
This is considered to be the one of the milder adventure sports and a popular, fun family activity. Each hot air balloon ride lasts for 10 minutes with 2-4 passengers allowed at a time. The time schedule for the beautiful sunrise and sunset rides are 2 hours before 9 am and 2 hours after.
During the ‘Tethered Joy Rides’, the hot air balloon acquires an altitude of 150 – 200 feet while being firmly tied to the ground. The balloon rises smoothly and remains suspended in the air, providing a mesmerizing sight of Lakshmi hills, the lush green tea estates of Munnar, the Pallivasal dam and the Anamudi (South India’s highest peak).
This Festival will be held in association with The Tourism Department of Kerala and the Ballooning Club of India. The ballooning partner of this great event is Mr. Vishwa Bandhu Gupta, India’s first Balloonist and the Secretary of the Ballooning Club of India.
